* Don't expose the MOD Duo to liquids, although it has been manufactured to prevent death-by-beer, it's generally a good idea not to submerge electronics in liquids.
 +
* When inserting the USB-B cable into the MOD Duo, make sure that you are not accidentally plugging it into the Control Chain socket, this can cause a short-circuit.
 +
* Don't connect the MOD Duo's Control Chain port to a regular Ethernet port, it uses a very different protocol, and may damage your MOD Duo.
 +
* To power up the MOD Duo, only use a 12V-DC, center-positive adapter. Using a reverse polarity adapter (like the average guitar pedal adapter) may destroy the circuitry of the MOD Duo. When in doubt, only use the provided power supply.
 +
* When connecting output 1/2 to unbalanced equipment, only do this using mono cables. When you use stereo cables, the MOD Duo works in balanced mode, which may or may not be harmful for your equipment.

MOD Duo allows each input and output volume to be individually adjusted.
 +
 +
Please refer to the Inputs and Outputs Device Settings section in the wiki for more information on that.
 +
 +
Tuning
 +
 +
MOD Duo has a built-in chromatic tuner that can be accessed by pressing and holding the right knob for one second. Both inputs can be used as the tuner input, to select between them short press the right knob. To exit the tuner press and hold the right knob for one second.

Device menu (HMI)
+
If you see a question mark on the tuner screen, it means the MOD Duo is not receiving any input or the input levels are too low.
The device menu, or as we call it, HMI (Human Machine Interface), allows you to change settings on the MOD Duo. It also allows you to access different banks, pedalboards and the tuner.

The device menu can be accessed by holding down the left knob for one second.
+
Please refer to the Tuner section in the Device Settings page for more information.

Navigation is done by rotating the left knob until the desired section is highlighted. Click on the left knob to enter the highlighted section.
+
Playing
When you are done, you can either navigate to "Back to SETTINGS" and click on the left knob to go back to the device menu. Or you can hold down the left knob for one second to exit without going back to the device menu.
+
After you have powered on and adjusted the volumes of your MOD Duo, it is ready for playtime. The MOD Duo comes with many pedalboards ready to be used. They are organized in banks and can be accessed via SETTINGS menu.

Banks
+
Please refer to the Banks section on the Device Settings page for more information.
If you want to use the MOD Duo without being connected to a computer, this is a very important section.

Upon entering this section, you will see the banks that you have created using the web interface, as well as a bank that contains all your pedalboards, named "All".
+
When you load a pedalboard, all plugin parameters will have the last saved state. You can save a new state or restore the last saved state using the Settings > Current Pedalboard menu.

By navigating to a bank and clicking on the left button, you can browse the pedalboards within that bank. Navigate to the pedalboard of your choice and click the left button to load that pedalboard, and make the bank the currently active bank.
+
Device Settings
From this point onwards, you can use multiple ways of navigating through the pedalboards in the active bank:
+

# Repeat the procedure to navigate to and select a different pedalboard

# Use the footswitches on the MOD Duo to cycle through the pedalboards inside the currently active bank (only if set up through the web interface)

# Use MIDI program changes to select the currently active bank (only if set up through the web interface)

Current pedalboard
+
Pressing and hold the left endless knob will open the Device Settings menu.
If you have made some changes to some parameters of your pedalboard, and you want to save those changes for the next time you load the pedalboard, you can enter this menu and select and click on "Save State". This is especially useful for use without a computer.

If you have made some changes, but you are not quite happy with the result, there is also a "Reset State" command. This command will return your pedalboard to the original saved state.
+
Access the Device Settings page to learn how to use it to Load Banks and Pedalboards, adjust volumes and MIDI Settings, manage User profiles and more.

Volume and gains
This section allows you to set the gain for the inputs and level of the outputs. The headphone has its own section, so check out the "Headphone" section for information about the headphone volume levels and settings.

When you notice that the LED's at the input side are blinking bright red, that means that your input signal is "clipping". In general, that is not a desired condition. Luckily, it can easily be resolved by lowering the input gain. Try a different gain-stage for the clipping input, or use the "Fine Adjust" option to take smaller steps.
+
Editing
The gain stages represent the following input gain:
+
Accessing the graphical interface
*Low: -22.0 dBu

*Medium: -9.5 dBu

*High: +3.0 dBu

For the outputs there is only a simple volume control, going from 0 (unity gain) all the way down to -127.0 dBu. It is recommended to keep the outputs set to unity gain, and resolving clipping on the outputs by reducing the gain in the pedalboard.
+
The MOD Duo has a built-in graphical user interface (GUI), which means you don’t need to download any extra software in order to configure the device. To access the interface, you only need a web browser, such as Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

Headphone
+
Once you are connected to your device you will be able to build and share your pedalboards, download new plugins, organize your banks for offline access and much more.
In this section you can change the settings for the headphone output.

By entering the "Volume" sub-menu you can set the volume from -33dBu to +12dBu.
+
Please refer to the Web GUI User Guide to learn all about it.

By enabling the "Direct monitoring" option, your headphone output will work as a monitor for the dry sound coming into the MOD Duo.

This section allows you to check the status of, and set up your Bluetooth connection.

TODO: insert connection routine
+
The easiest way to access the GUI is through the USB cable. Simply connect the USB cable, which you received along with your MOD Duo, to your PC or Mac. The operating system should recognize the MOD Duo as a network device and configure it automatically. However, this process may fail in certain Windows versions, if that is your case please check the troubleshooting page

NOTE: in order to use Bluetooth it is required to insert a Bluetooth dongle (version 3.0 or higher) in the USB A port of the MOD Duo.

MOD Duo has a true bypass circuit for each pair of input/output. This allows you to physically connect input 1 to output 1, and input 2 to output 2. The true bypass is enabled when the device is off and it is automatically disabled after the current pedalboard is loaded.
By holding down the right knob for one second, you will go into tuner mode.

Changing the input being tuned can be done by clicking on the right knob once. By default the tuner is set to tune input 1.
+
You can enable or disable the true bypass via the GUI, or use a plugin and assign this control to any actuator. See the Web GUI User Guide for more info.

Exiting the tuner is done by holding down the right knob for one second again.
+
You can also enable it via the Device Settings menu. Check Hardware bypass section on Device Settings page for more info.
